Ashlee Peno received the Outstanding Alumna Award for the Department of Civil Engineering at SIUE’s School of Engineering 14th Annual Awards Banquet on February 18, 2020. A two time graduate of SIUE, Ms. Peno received her BS in civil engineering in 2004 and her MS in civil engineering in 2005. Ms. Peno was also featured as the keynote speaker for the night, presenting SID’s involvement with the Highway 47 Bridge implosion over the Missouri River. She spoke to students, alumni, faculty, and staff about the full demolition process including the demolition plans, structural analysis, pre-cutting and placing charges, blasting, and clean up. The presentation was well received and Ms. Peno enjoyed getting to share one of the many projects SID has performed specialty structural engineering services for. Ms. Peno is also on the SIUE Alumni Board of Directors and is very active in the SIUE alumni community.
