Design and detailing of numerous canopies with steel frame and glass skylights.
Special Inspections & Design has provided structural engineering services for the construction of numerous ornamental canopy structures. Most of these structures have consisted of structural steel tube frames supporting aluminum and glass skylights. Our services have included designing and detailing the frame and connections; designing the structure to meet stringent deflection requirements; designing custom connections to conceal structural fasteners; designing independent foundations or working with the EOR to provide column reactions for verification of the foundation design; reviewing steel shop drawings; and coordinating with the fabricator and erector to address field changes.
